Basic life support (BLS) courses.
Course Details:
This course is designed as an introduction to the principals of first aid and emergency care. It will not fulfill the criteria of Occupational First Aider requirements under the current Health & Safety Legislation but is an excellent way to increase the awareness of First Aid in the workplace.
Objectives of Course:
On completion of this course participants will be able to:- Assess the extent of injury
- Provide emergency First Aid in the workplace
- Deal effectively with common workplace injuries.
Programme:
- Responsibilities of a First Aider
- Assessment and initial reaction
- Diagnosis and principles of treatment
- Patient approach
- Examination of casualty
- Electric shock and burns
- Wounds and bleeding
- Control of bleeding
- Sprains, strains and dislocation
- Crush injuries.
Who Should attend:
Anyone who requires a basic understanding of first aid and what procedures to follow in emergency situations.
Pre-Course Requirements:
No pre course requirements but English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter this can be arranged with prior notice which must be given to Doyle Health and Safety.
Assessment/Certification:
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance and participation in Basic First Aid from Doyle Health & Safety
